Clinical management of type 2 diabetes focuses on managing blood glucose through the provision of oral hypoglycemic drugs, insulin, and more recently GLP-1 agonists and SGLT-2 inhibitors. The expectation is that this is a progressive disease and that patients will remain on these medications lifelong. Given the significant impact on quality of life that diabetes has, it is important to find ways to manage the symptoms and improve insulin sensitivity. Even in those with increased genetic susceptibility, significant improvement is possible."
Congratulations to my colleagues @MatthewHalma @drpaulmarik1 and @drbeen_medical for publishing this new article in the Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons! Full text: https://jpands.org/vol28no4/marik.pdf Please be aware that significant improvements are also possible with Type 1 diabetes. |
